Qualifications: RAD Registered Teacher, RAD Teachers Certificate (Distinction), ISTD Associate Diploma (Tap), NZAMD Registered Teacher, NZAMD Solo Seal Diploma (Jazz, Hip Hop),
Amy has been dancing since the age of five and has eighteen years teaching experience. After returning from the UK in 1998 she completed her RAD Teachers certificate with Distinction and taught at a local dance school for four years before establishing the Macdonald School of Dance in 2002. Amy now teaches up to forty classes a week in various dance forms and dedicates most of her time to the careful training of her many pupils.
Sarah Macdonald
Classical Ballet
RAD Registered Teacher, RAD Teachers Certificate
Sarah started her teacher training at the age of fifteen giving her twentyfive years of teaching experience. In her early 20's she took time out to have a family and returned to teaching in 2004 to complete her RAD Teachers Certificate. Sarah is also trained in American Jazz and Tap but her first love is Classical Ballet. She specialises in teaching our junior ballet pupils and is currently teaching Pre-Primary to Grade six Ballet.
Laura Walters
Jazz/Contemporary/ Classical Ballet/Hip Hop
ARAD, AISTD (Classical Ballet), NZAMD Solo Diploma (Jazz, Hip Hop)
Laura Walters has been a pupil at the Macdonald School of Dance since the age of nine and a faculty member for the past eight years. She is trained in Classical Ballet, American Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Tap. Laura is an enthusiastic teacher with a careful eye for detail, we are lucky to have such a talented young teacher on our staff.
Mairi Robertson
Contemporary/Classical Ballet/Jazz/Tap
AISTD (Classical Ballet, Tap), NZAMD Adv. Diploma (Jazz),
Mairi has been dancing since the age of three and has been on the faculty since mid 2011. Mairi is currently working towards her RAD advanced 2 ballet exam having gained the same qualification in 2011 with the ISTD. She also holds her Advanced 2 ISTD Tap qualification and is completing her final exams for Contemporary and American Tap in 2012 along with her Solo Diploma for American Jazz. Mairi is a highly valued new staff member who has a promising future in the dance industry.
Ashleigh Hoera
Classical Ballet/Jazz/Tap/Hip Hop/Contemporary
NZAMD Solo Diploma (Hip Hop), AISTD (Tap), NZAMD Adv. Diploma (Jazz)
Ashleigh has been dancing since the age of four and has been teaching Tap and Hip Hop throughout 2011. She is another very versatile member of our staff having trained in every dance form we offer and will be completing her advanced examinations and teaching qualifications during 2012 before moving on to pursue her own dancing career overseas.
